Saturday Nov 19 - Monsoon Thai
PDX Wino and DJ are watching Alma while I am out of town for Thanksgiving. I have a few instructions to give them (Alma is finicky, after all). We agree to get dinner tonight, and they select Monsoon Thai. I hadn't been before, but I need to find good Thai in the new 'hood (Thai Ginger just isn't doing it). The standard for me is Chaba Thai on NE Sandy, but that is just too far to go on a night after work.DJ and I get Black Butte Porters, and the wino gets Tsingha. I order up cashew chicken, DJ gets Lemongrass Chicken Pad Thai with tofu in place of chicken. I am drawing a blank on which wino gets. We share spring rolls to start. Food is very flavorful, but not as spicy as I'd like. I originally order medium, but they tell me medium here is more like mild elsewhere, so I get hot, and it still isn't quite hot enough.
Better than Thai Ginger, not as good as Chaba.
Lovely, stolen artwork by Nate Beaty.
