Sunday, Jan 8 - Fortnight Dinner Club

Allright, new dinner group (I think that makes 3 now). Club Fortnight. We are going to meet (wait for it) ... every two weeks. CC, Porkchop, and me. Special guest, ADC, who knows, here and there. Tonight, it was the three of us and an ADC. Here are the rules: meet every two weeks, rotate hosting duties, guest brings wine and dessert, host does everything else.

Tonight, I make flank steak with chimichurri, ADC prepares potatoes, we have a mixed green salad with goat cheese, toasted walnuts (toasted by ADC), dried cranberries, and homemade dressing. CC and Porkchop bring an epiphany cake and wine (a 2003 Priorat that was still tight and hard (maybe CC can fill in the producer for me?), a 1998 Columbia Signature Reserve Syrah (from my cellar, when it was determined that the Priorat was too closed), and a 2002 Francis Tanahill Gewurtz. Pasito).

I think it went incredibly well. Extra thanks to porkchop for manning the grill while I dished up salad and set the table.

the grill was a loss -- they came in and were oven-roasted when 10 minutes barely warmed them. quite tasty! I usually use yukons and butter, but reds with a very little oil and some rosemary worked well. needed seasoning, but great texture. Kudos to the hung-over ADC!
