Thursday, Jan 5 - Lunch/Dinner
Late lunch and early dinner. I was SO full last night...Lunch - Met Lady E at Higgins Bar for a late lunch. Scheduled time was 1, we rescheduled for 2, and I got there around 2:30. Not good if you are meeting for lunch and an annual review. It went well anyway. I got the Ground Sirloin sandwich (burger) with white cheddar. Lady E and I split a bowl of potato/bacon soup. She got the charcuterie plate, which included all house made salamis (bresola, lardon, fennel salami, etc.). I tried a few pieces, and was amazed. There is a reason Higgins is so well respected in Portland. The food is simply outstanding. I had a few glasses of Spanish Verdejo, Lady E had some Chardonnay and a glass of Cotes du Rhone. Lunch began around 2:45 and ended around 4:15. Back to the warehouse for a few minutes then out to...
Dinner - I had made plans to meet Aussie C at Roux for a sales call of sorts. We were going for dinner, but also to make an appearance. Brought a bottle of wine along for the wine buyer to taste, etc. I arrive late, as I have all day, and AC has a glass of bubbles. I get a greyhound. We spit the tasty butter lettuce salad, and they send out a crawfish pie for us. We also get a bottle of 2004 Didier Dagueneau Blanc Fume de Pouilly. Expensive and good, but not as good as the price might suggest. I get the cajun cassoulet, and AC gets the rabbit. We split beignets and chicory coffee ice cream for dessert.
