Wednesday Nov 2, 2005 - Dinner

So, time to take care of myself. Got home from work around 6:30. Fed Alma (ocean fish). Lit a fire in the fireplace (the first fire at my new house). Threw Lightnin' Hopkins on the radio. Got to cookin'.

First things first, vino. I grabbed a bottle of 2001 Eric Texier Cotes-du-Rhone Brezeme from the cellar and popped the cork. I even went as far as to grab the appropriate Riedel glass from the built-in cabinet in the dining room (Vinum series Syrah, FYI).

I had made a tomato/basil/cream sauce over the weekend that I heated up on the stove. Boiled some water for pasta (linguine), and threw a couple of Fred Carlo's hot Italian sausages (fennel, chili, and garlic) into a pan. Cut up a tomato for a little salad.

Filp the sausage. Stir the pasta in the water. Don't let the sauce overheat. Pretty basic cooking, but just the right amount, really, for a Wednesday night. And, for dessert, a red Bartlett pear. Mmm.

Looking forward to more wine in front of the fire with a new book from the library (Garbage Land by Elizabeth Royte).

Goodnight.
