Monday Nov 7, 2005 - Sandwich

I'm making a real attempt to bring my lunch to work everyday. In my line of work, it is WAY too easy to stop in at an account for lunch (say Roux or Caprials), or an account that is not mine (say Gotham or Justa Pasta). These, although nearly always fantastic, are more expensive than a sandwich brought from home. Today (and all this week, really, because I am not going to buy a quarter of a pound of 3 kinds of lunch meat) I am having roastbeef and swiss. I try to mix it up from week to week. This week, 12 grain bread (apparently 7 grains are not enough?). Sometimes, aged cheddar, sometimes, fancy salami and baguettes with triple cream (Explorateur if I can find it), sometimes (as was the case last week) turkey. Not a big fan of lunch meat style ham. Not sure why, probably something from my troubled youth.

At any rate, roastbeef and swiss, bag of Doritos from the Hi-Neighbor Deli, and some Hot Tamales (I watched a special on Hot Tamales on the Food Network on Sunday).

For the wine (there is ALWAYS wine), an old bottle of 2003 St. Cosme Cotes du Rhone (somewhat unique in the fact that it is a 100% Syrah CdR) from Friday that was still amazingly vibrant. It was in our cold warehouse over the weekend, which surely slowed it's oxidation.
