Saturday Nov 5, 2005 - In France, the salad comes last
I found myself home alone at 6:30 on a Saturday, the fire was going out in the fireplace. I called my friend S.H., who claimed to have not eaten all day. I headed over to NW PDX, where we went to Blue Moon. They have a fireplace, and their wood actually seemed to burn. Ingenious! Hopefully, the wood that is delivered to my place on Wednesday will burn. Keep you fingers crossed for me.Personally, I find McMenamins food lacking. When I hit the Blue Moon with S.H., I almost always get the same thing, the Blackened Chicken Cobb Salad (substitute oil and vinegar for the blue cheese dressing that normally accompanies it). Decent chicken breast (blackened and spicy), bacon (fairly crisp), hard boiled egg (a little too hard, I think), and tomato. And, since we were at a bar, greyhounds. McMenamins does at least one thing right, fresh squeezed citrus. I am a fan of pulp, and this greyhound had just enough. Mmmm.
